How’s the Power? For the 2025 model, the BMW i4 will come with four different engine options. The BMW i4 will be available with a single electric motor that produces between 282 and 335 horsepower. The dual-motor vehicle has all-wheel drive with power ranging from 396 to 536 horsepower. We estimate that this engine will be ready in 2025. According to experts, BMW is currently developing a four-motor i4 model that will function as a fully electric version of the BMW M4 or BMW M3. The EV can produce up to 1,341 horsepower, which is beyond human reason.
How Does It Perform? The BMW i4 is enjoyable to drive to a point, yet this wasn’t the sport sedan that hoped for. We tried the eDrive40 model. At our test track, it went from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. That’s comparable to rear-wheel-drive EVs. The brakes are smooth and powerful, and the car enables for one-pedal driving, which helps charge batteries and reduces driver strain in congestion.
While many BMW models reward and delight when driven hard, the i4 is not one of them. It’s speedy, yes, but the handling leaves something to be desired. The steering is swift and light enough to allow for easy parking, but it lacks feedback. Body roll is moderate as you navigate turns, but if driven difficult, the BMW i4 can become springy and uncomfortable.

How’s the Real World MPG? From a trusted source, the most efficient BMW i4 is the eDrive35 with standard 18-inch wheels. The i4 gets 122 MPGe in the city and 119 MPGe on the highway. If the i4 uses larger wheels, the MPGe rating will decrease.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The EPA estimates that the single-motor rear-drive i4 eDrive40 can go 301 miles on a full battery charge. The all-wheel-drive xDrive40 with 396 horsepower has a projected range for driving of 307 miles when equipped with the standard 18-inch wheels, or 282 with the optional 19-inchers. While we haven’t yet run our long-term i4 xDrive40 through our 75-mph highway route, which is part of our thorough testing routine, we did test an i4 eDrive 40 Gran Coupe and it scored 280 miles of range, just two miles shy of the EPA estimate.

2025 BMW i4 Comfort
One of the BMW i4 2025 most impressive features is its ride comfort. The automobile seems peaceful and collected on the road, whether it’s city surface streets or the interstate. The automobile does not totally eliminate bumps or flaws, but they are muffled far more than in competitors like as the Tesla Model 3. The seats, while not particularly impressive, are moderately comfortable and supportive. They don’t provide much in terms of adjustability, however. The optional heated seats function nicely, however BMW does not provide ventilation.

While most controls are simple to see and reach, the chairs fall just short of allowing for an ideal fit. On the plus side, the interior seems very spacious up front, with enough of headroom and legroom. Space isn’t nearly as ample for passengers in the rear, featuring little toe room beneath the front rows of seats and significantly reduced height due to the i4 2025 stylish roofline.
The side roofing additionally dims the view out back slightly, but not significantly. Surprisingly, the roofline has little to no impact on rear head space while getting into the car, although we’d be wary of those frameless windows because it’s easy to kiss a corner if you’re not careful.
